Financial Assistance Resources

SHARE

Each year, thousands of families receive the heartbreaking news that a loved one has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. Beyond the emotional toll, the financial burden can be overwhelming. Costs for treatment, travel to receive care, and daily living can quickly become unmanageable.

Below are financial assistance resources for brain tumor patients and their families.

Path to Relief Fund

To address these challenges, Head for the Cure has created the Path to Relief Fund. This program offers limited financial support to individuals diagnosed with primary malignant brain tumors. To ease the financial burden, approved funds may be used to pay for clinical trial or treatment-related airfare/lodging, or specific bills, such as rent or mortgage, utilities, medical expenses, and more.  These grants are designed to help with essential expenses rather than replace regular income.

Other Financial Assistance Programs

American Brain Tumor Association
ABTA Financial Assistance Program, Glenn Garcelon Fund, offers limited financial assistance for patients diagnosed with a primary benign or malignant Central Nervous System (CNS) tumor. To ease the financial burden to the patient, the fund may cover certain expenses and/or bills, such as mortgage, medical bills, utilities, among others.
Musella Foundation Co-Pay Assistance
The Brain Tumor Drug Copayment Assistance Program, a program of the Musella Foundation For Brain Tumor Research & Information, Inc., provides financial assistance to families who need help covering the cost of certain drugs used to treat Primary Malignant Brain Tumors (Grade 3 or 4). Covered treatments include (brand name, generics or bioequivalents of these treatments):Avastin, Lomustine, Optune Gio, and Temodar
Mission4Maureen
Mission4Maureen is dedicated to providing financial assistance to families who are burdened with the staggering cost of brain cancer treatment. Financial aid is available for medical bills as well as child care, housing payments, utility bills, transportation, medication and other areas of assistance. An application with supporting documentation is required.
Kim’s Hope
Kim’s Hope will provide financial aid to families who prefer to care for, or have professional care provided in an in-home environment. As the disease progresses, it is very difficult for the caregiver(s) to maintain a job and provide care for their loved one. By covering some of the cost of unpaid leave from work or professional in-home care, Kim’s Hope will ease some of that burden.
Darren Daulton Foundation
The Darren Daulton Foundation is committed to providing financial assistance to those suffering from primary malignant brain tumors by providing grants to families struggling to meet their financial obligations due to the diagnosis. Through our fundraising efforts, they are able to grant financial assistance to those who qualify while they are struggling through this tough time.
PAN Foundation (Glioblastoma)
Assistance available for those diagnosed with Glioblastoma. Covers medications or products on PAN Foundation’s list of covered medications. Applicants must have health insurance and have income that is at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Level. Fund opens and closes periodically. When closed, sign up for notifications on website.
NCCS Transportation Assistance Fund
Their Transportation Assistance Fund alleviates the financial burden of travel and lodging for families who have a child with cancer.  This includes transportation expenses such as mileage, airfare, and lodging when a child needs to stay near the hospital for treatment and nonprofit lodging is unavailable.
Help Hope Live
Help Hope Live will provide you with one-on-one fundraising help, including personalized fundraising materials and guidance on how to rally your community, share your story on social media, reach out to the press, plan in-person or virtual fundraising events, and more.
